Look at that grin!! Ghost is 1.5 years old. She is a 50 lb husky, super-mutt, pitty mix. She was rescued a year ago as a puppy by a wonderful family who had just lost another puppy who was hit by a car (many of us fondly remember and grieve for petey). Sadly, her humans couldn’t get her out enough for the run and play that her breeds need, and she ended up biting one of their cats. Her humans have decided to seek a new home for her.

Ghost needs a female companion to call her own. She is a perfect co-pilot for a woman or a couple of women looking for a playful, energetic, intelligent and devoted companion. Even though she is very energetic, she can lie tranquilly at my side while I work. She is a really nice combination of play and quiet-especially for a 1.5 year old dog.

I caught her napping! She loves to nap!

Ghost gets along with lots of dogs and she loves to play—like, really a lot. However, she is reactive to dogs on the leash, and if a dog isn’t already her friend she can get uppity. I use a prong collar on both of these strong dogs, and they are super easy to control. Ghost behaves very well on the leash.

Ghost is quite active. She would do well with another dog to play with. She needs a daily exercise that I call ‘romping’-running, playing, chasing at top speed, wrestling. She liked our river adventure last week. It was so nice to see her run!

Ghost has a little bit of separation anxiety. She busted out of the crate I put her in when she became my foster dog. However, she did not cause any damage in my house once she got out. When she is left at home alone, she looks out the window longingly (see pic below). She likes chew toys and will chew on some things like rugs or blankets, though she is easily redirected. She will chew through her leash if left alone with it on, but this is probably separation anxiety. She wants to be where her people are.

She is definitely trainable, and responds pretty well to treat training. She is head strong though, and has her own ideas about how a command should be followed. Some of this seems to be due to anxiety, and some… well… she’s a husky;). She is a bit timid with new people and will shy away from heavy handedness. She responds well to gentleness and a quiet presence. She is more afraid of men, and doesn’t really bond with them as much as she does with women. She can be reactive to dogs, but she is not aggressive toward humans in the least.

She has a big heart and lots of love to give. She is looking for her person and her place to call home. She might be looking for you.
